Draft press release / summary of campaign

== First shots fired in big business war on ‘independent’ east London community ==

but social centre served with papers will square up to developers and fight back

Multi-national property developers Hammerson have declared war on the independent area that surrounds the tiny ancient ‘liberty’ of Norton Folgate by serving eviction papers on the bowl court social centre. Bowl court is …(short description of a social centre)

A spokesperson for the social centre said "....."

Hammerson, who were responsible for stretching the boundaries of the financial goliath that is the city of London into spitalfields and squeezing out its soul, are now training their sites on the area around Shoreditch high st and brick lane where they will replace residents, small businesses, real communities, artists, creative hubs, cafes, bars, pubs with identikit offices blocks and luxury flats for the people that work in them

"quote” (from other campaign such as open shoreditch)

The CABE report (CABE is the 'The government's advisor on architecture, urban design and public space' says "the failure to relate to the inherent grain or character of South Shoreditch in terms of use and scale represents a fundamental flaw in the proposals")

Hammerson have an appalling record ….. They and their corporate buddies in the city don’t care that people will be forced out of their homes and worthwhile community activity that isn’t just designed to part people from their cash.

Bowl court don’t just want to restrict the creeping soulless city to it’s current boundaries, they want to show that there is a better way and turn the tide.
